Blind flange is a kind of solid flange, the essence of which is that there is no through-hole opened on the flange for connecting pipeline, and it is mainly used for sealing the end of pipeline or isolating a certain area in the pipeline system. When working, the blind flange is tightly connected to the paired flanges by bolts, and a sealing gasket (e.g., rubber, metal-wound gasket, etc.) is added between them. When the bolts are tightened evenly, the sealing gasket is compressed, filling the tiny unevenness of the sealing surface of the flange, forming a tight sealing barrier, preventing the flow and leakage of the medium in the pipeline, so as to realize the function of blocking or isolation of the pipeline. This structural design makes the blind flange able to reliably cut off the pipeline medium circulation under various complicated working conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, strong corrosiveness, etc., and provide safety guarantee for the overhaul, maintenance or switching of working conditions of the pipeline system.

Covering a temperature range of - 270ºC to 650ºC, it can withstand corrosion of various media such as strong acid (pH≤1), strong alkali (pH≥14), and highly concentrated salt solution. By choosing different materials (e.g. Hastelloy, Monel alloy) and sealing structure, it can meet the needs of extreme working conditions such as aerospace fuel pipelines and radioactive media pipelines in the nuclear industry.

Adopting forging or casting high-quality steel, after normalizing, tempering and other heat treatment processes, the mechanical properties are excellent. For example, A105 carbon steel blind flange tensile strength of up to 485MPa, yield strength of 250MPa, can withstand severe pressure fluctuations and mechanical vibration, service life of more than 20 years, reducing the frequency of replacement and maintenance costs.
