Flat welding flange is a common pipeline connecting parts, its structure is characterized by the flange bore with a short neck, the pipe inserted into the short neck through the fillet weld and the flange welding fixed. When working, the medium pressure is transferred to the flange through the pipeline, relying on the bolt connection will be two pieces of flange tightly pressed together, the middle of the sealing gasket is squeezed and deformed to fill the gap between the sealing surface, forming a sealing barrier. This type of connection withstands part of the axial force through the weld, and at the same time utilizes the bolt preload to achieve sealing, which is suitable for low and medium pressure piping systems, and is widely used in petroleum, chemical, construction and other fields.

Adopting convex or concave-convex sealing structure with rubber and metal-wound gaskets, the leakage rate is less than 0.1% in pressure ratings below PN16. By controlling the height of welded joints (not less than the wall thickness of the pipe) and conducting 100% visual inspection, the strength of welded joints is ensured, and stable operation is achieved in the pressure range of 0.6-4.0MPa.

The pipe is inserted into the short neck of the flange and then welded by fillet weld, without the need of full weld-through process, with lower technical requirements for welders, and the on-site welding efficiency is more than 30% higher than that of butt-welding flanges. The center distance deviation of the bolt holes is ≤±1mm, which is convenient for quick alignment with the paired flanges and shortens the installation time, especially suitable for emergency repair and on-site construction.
